Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of the vintage original The Godfather Part III posters, where we provide artwork for the concluding chapter of cinema's ultimate Italian mafia crime film series trilogy.
The Godfather Part III is an American crime film released in 1990. The film was produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola as usual, with Mario Puzo returning to co-write the screenplay. It is the third and final movie of the Godfather trilogy, following both The Godfather (1972) Godfather Part II (1974). Godfather III completes the story of Michael Corleone, who attempts to legitimize his criminal empire. The movie also fictionalized the death of Pope John Paul I (1978) and the Papal banking scandal (1981–82), both linked to Michael Corleone's business affairs. The film stars Al Pacino, Talia Shire, Diane Keaton, and Andy García, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, and more.
In this third film within the epic Corleone trilogy, Al Pacino reprises the role of powerful family leader Michael Corleone. Now in his 60's, Michael is dominated by two passions: freeing his family from crime and finding an appropriate successor.
Coppola and Puzo preferred the title The Death of Michael Corleone, but Paramount Pictures didn't find this acceptable. The Godfather Part III received generally positive reviews; critics praised Pacino's performance and screenplay but criticized the film's convoluted plot and Sofia Coppola's performance. The film was distributed by Paramount Pictures, premiering in Beverly Hills on December 20, 1990, and released in the USA on December 25, 1990. It grossed $136,766,062 and was nominated for seven Academy Awards, failing to win any, making it the sole film within the trilogy to do so.
