  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Rumble Fish vintage movie posters, where we offer a wide range of artwork for cinema's ultimate drama films.

Rumble Fish is an American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola in 1983. Adopted from the novel Rumble Fish by S. E. Hinton, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ford Coppola, the film is starring Matt Dillon and Mickey Rourke.

The film focuses on the relationship between a Motorcycle Boy (Rourke), a former gang leader wishing to live a more peaceful life, and his younger brother, Rusty James (Dillon), a teenaged thug who aspires to become as feared as his brother.

Coppola wrote the film with Hinton on his days off from shooting The Outsiders. He made the films back to back, keeping much of the same cast and crew, mainly Matt Dillon and Diane Lane. Rumble Fish is dedicated to Coppola's brother August.

The film is well-known for its avant-garde style with a noir feel, shot on stark high-contrast black-and-white film, using the spherical cinematographic process with allusions to French New Wave cinema and German Expressionism. The film also features an experimental score by Stewart Copeland, drummer of the musical group the Police, who used Musync, a new device at the time.

Film/Art Gallery's collection of Rumble Fish movie posters include a unique artwork by John Solie. Rumble Fish posters collection also includes a rare English poster for Coppola's moody adaptation.

Film/Art Gallery movie posters are original prints and film poster collectibles. These are original movie posters. We do not carry any movie poster reproductions or reprints of any kind.
