Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of the original Moonraker vintage movie posters, where we offer a wide range of artwork for one of cinema's ultimate action thriller films.
Moonraker is a spy film released in 1979 by Eon Productions. It is the eleventh in the James Bond 007 series and the third and final to be directed by Lewis Gilbert.
In this action-packed adventure, James Bond (Roger Moore) goes to investigate the mid-air theft which had an American space shuttle hijacked. Agent Bond and gorgeous space scientist, Dr. Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles) discover a conspiracy to commit global genocide. The film takes us to Venice, Rio de Janeiro, the Amazon rainforest and finally outer space where Bond fights with Hugo Drax (Michael Lonsdale), a power-mad industrialist and antagonist of the film.
Author Ian Fleming had intended in making the novel a film even before the novel was completed in 1954. One producer of the film was Albert R. Broccoli, who with other producers had originally planned to make For Your Eyes Only the title but chose Moonraker, on account of the rise of the science fiction genre in the wake of the Star Wars phenomenon.
Famous for its high production cost ($34 million), more than twice as much as The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), and it garnered mixed reviews. However, the film's visuals were commended. It eventually became the highest-grossing film of the series at the time.
Film/Art Gallery's Moonraker movie poster collection includes Bond in space, featuring artwork by Dan Goozee. It also contains the Moonraker poster of a complete set of 8 11"x14" lobby cards for the bond film.
