COLLECTABLE WAR MOVIE POSTERS

War movies are known for their powerful and stirring images, and the movie posters to market the films are no different. Film/Art Gallery has a large collection of original war movie posters, with no reproductions offered.

Film/Art Gallery is run by a team of dedicated film art collectors and are committed to helping collectors find the vintage posters they are seeking.

The War of the Buttons

The War of the Buttons is not what most people think about when they consider war movies. This 1962 French film, directed by Yves Robert, depicts the occurrences and outcomes of warring schoolchildren who cut off the buttons of their opponents’ clothing as battle trophies. Our brightly colored yellow British movie poster hints at the content of the film and is highly collectable.

Punishment Park

Punishment Park is a pseudo documentary film from director Peter Watkins about a European crew filming a group of United States National Guard troops as they pursue convicted members of an anti-war group through the California desert as they try to avoid their pending criminal sentences if they can outrun the National Guard troops. This rare poster displays one of the pursuing Guard members at the top with one of the pursued anti-war protesters underneath all overlaid in red.

Apocalypse Now

Often considered one of the most celebrated war movies of all time, if not the greatest war movie, Apocalypse Now was inspired by Joseph Conrad’s novel, The Heart of Darkness, and was directed by the legendary Francis Ford Coppola. The movie contains numerous storylines, which is why there are numerous versions of the movie posters. But most of the posters either depict the haziness of a setting Vietnamese sunset or the tortured face of  the movie’s protaganist played by Marlon Brando. A true classic movie that has been often regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time. All iterations of the film art are highly collectible pieces.

Stripes

Oftentimes war movies include the horrors of war, but there are certain films that take a comedic approach, Stripes  is often seen as the epitome of a film that takes a humorous approach to battle. Starring some of the 1980s most famous comedic actors such as Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and John Candy, this Ivan Reitman directed film has been adored since it first premiered.  Promoted with an ironic movie poster showing Murray pointing to the viewer with two lovely ladies in the foreground, the poster features the slogan I Want You. Truly a gem of a movie and a coveted piece of war movie film art.
