Original Soderbergh, Steven Movie Posters
Steven Soderbergh movie posters span one of American cinema's most formally restless careers — a director who has worked across independent art film, mainstream entertainment, studio genre exercise, and digital experiment with equal commitment and intelligence. Each campaign reflects the particular mode Soderbergh was operating in: the restrained minimalism of the art-house productions, the glossy confidence of the Ocean's franchise, and the rigorous severity of his social dramas.
Find original Soderbergh theatrical materials from across his career. sex, lies, and videotape (1989), his debut feature and Palme d'Or winner, generated one of the most influential art-cinema campaigns of the Sundance era — its restrained, intimate imagery setting the visual vocabulary for a generation of American independent cinema marketing. Traffic (2000) and Erin Brockovich (2000) demonstrated his command of mainstream-crossover campaigns.
The Ocean's trilogy — Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen — produced slick, star-loaded ensemble campaigns that were among the most commercially confident of the 2000s. Original materials from the early independent productions are now scarce in fine flat condition — the limited art-house circuit distribution of sex, lies, and videotape in particular produced print runs that have proven very difficult to locate in dealer inventories. Cannes Palme d'Or competition materials from that first release are among the scarcest Soderbergh items in any format.
