Original Linklater, Richard Movie Posters
Richard Linklater movie posters span three decades of independent American cinema, documenting a filmmaker whose commitment to unconventional structure produced some of the most collectible theatrical paper in the American indie tradition. From the early Austin productions through the formally ambitious experiments of the 2000s and 2010s, each campaign reflects the unhurried intelligence of the films themselves. No other American director of his generation has sustained such consistent creative ambition across such a range of formal approaches.
Shop our Linklater collection to find original one-sheets from across his career. Dazed and Confused (1993) generated warmly nostalgic poster art — the original US one-sheet's orange and gold palette capturing the film's sun-saturated Texas adolescence. The Before trilogy produced restrained, portrait-driven campaigns that evolved over eighteen years alongside the characters. Both series have become touchstones in the American indie collector market.
Boyhood (2014) presented an unusual poster challenge: how to represent a twelve-year production in a single image. The resulting one-sheets are among the most quietly affecting in recent American cinema, and original examples from the limited theatrical run are now scarce in fine flat condition. A Scanner Darkly's rotoscoped animation generated a completely distinct visual vocabulary — unsettling and hand-drawn, unlike anything else in his catalogue. Surviving originals in fine condition command serious collector attention.
