On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a spy film released in 1969, by Eon Productions. It is based on Ian Fleming’s 1963 novel. George Lazenby was selected to play the part of James Bond after Sean Connery decided to retire from the role after the film You Only Live Twice.

Secret Agent Bond continues to pursue the villainous Ernst Blofeld (Telly Savalas), his nemesis in the film, Thunderball. Along the way, he meets and falls in love with a French mafia boss' daughter, Tracy di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg). Together, they go undercover to uncover the true reason for Blofeld's research in the Swiss Alps. They join forces to fight the wicked SPECTRE organization which is planning to launch biological warfare that could kill a lot of people.

The film was directed by Peter R. Hunt, who had been a film editor and second unit director on previous films in the 007 series. Producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, along with Hunt, decided to produce a more pragmatic film that would stick to the original novel. The film became one of the top-performing films of the year. Reviews by critics upon release were mixed, but over time, its recognition has improved and is now regarded as one of the strongest entries in the series. Along with Casino Royale in 2006, it is one of the film series which were most closely related to the Ian Fleming novel.
