  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Julie Christie vintage movie posters from her critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic performances.

Julie Christie is a British film actress known for having a wide range of roles in American and English films in the 1960s and 1970s, also for her avant-garde, free-spirited personality. She is also an icon of the “swinging London” in the 60s, she also received awards from the Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Golden Globe Award. In 1997, she received the BAFTA Fellowship. Six of her films were part of the British Film Institute’s 100 greatest British films of the 20th century. Christie was born on April 14th, 1941, in Chukua, Assam, India, on her father’s Indian tea plantation. The actress received her education in England and France. She later learned acting at London’s Central School for Drama and in 1957, made her stage debut.

Billy Liar (1963) was Julie Christie’s breakthrough role, while Darling (1965) was where she gained international recognition for her performance. This role also won the Hollywood star the Academy Award for Best Actress. In 1965, Christie starred in Doctor Zhivago, the eighth highest-grossing film of all time after adjustments for inflation. In the following years, she starred in various films like Fahrenheit 451, The Go-Between, Don’t Look Now, Shampoo, Heaven Can Wait, and McCabe & Mrs. Miller, for which she was nominated for an Oscar. In the early 80s, Julie Christie's appearances in mainstream films lessened, although, in 2004, she held roles as Madam Rosmerta in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and as Thetis in Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy. The award winner continued to receive critical acknowledgment for her craft, including an Oscar nomination for Afterglow in 1997 and Away from Her in 2007, both of which are independent films.
