  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Jean-Paul Belmondo vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic performances.

Jean-Paul Belmondo was born on April 9, 1993, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. He was one of the biggest French movie stars from 1960-1980s. He was known by the movie Breathless in 1960 and That Man from Rio in 1964. His teenage years were spent at a private drama school, and he began to perform comedy sketches. He went to Conservatiore of Dramatic Arts when he was twenty for three years.

His first appearance was in 1957 in the movie, On Foot, on Horse, and on Wheels, a scene with Jean-Pierre Cassel. But, he had a bigger part in the sequel, A Dog, a Mouse, and a Sputnik in 1958. Belmondo first lead role was in 1958, Les Copains du dimanche, directed by Henri Aisner. By that time, he received notable success in Oscar in Paris in 1958. It lead him to being offered the leading role. The first movie was Consider All Risk in 1960, a French-Italian gangster film with Lino Ventura directed by Claude Sautet. The second movie was Breathless in 1960, and it made him a great figure in the French New Wave. He followed it with Letters by a Novice, an Italian film in 1960 and Trapped by Fear, a French film.

Jean-Paul Belmondo was made Knight of the Ordre National de Merite, promoted officer in 1986 and commander in 1994. He was also made Knight of the Legion d’honneur, then officer in 1991 and commander in 2007. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards gave him a Career Achievement award in 2010.
