  • Robin Davis movie posters from his French crime productions of the 1980s occupy a specialist corner of European genre film collecting — authentic original French grande and affichette campaign materials from a director who worked in the tradition of the French polar at a moment when that tradition was being commercially pressured by American action cinema. Shop our Robin Davis collection for original French theatrical paper. French crime productions of this period generated campaigns principally in the grande format — the standard large French theatrical poster at roughly 47×63cm — supplemented by the smaller affichette at approximately 23×31cm for regional and counter display. The French grande for productions of this kind was typically produced in quantities that matched the scale of actual French theatrical distribution, and surviving examples in fine condition are accordingly scarce. Jeu de photos sets from French productions of the period follow the ten-photograph format standard for French theatrical releases and are now rarely found as complete runs. Where productions crossed into international co-production territory, German A1 versions and Italian 2-fogli were produced for those domestic markets. The French affichette, produced for counter and regional display, survives in smaller numbers than the grande due to its more transient original use. Browse alongside our Jules Dassin, Day for Night, and Damiano Damiani collections for related French and European crime material. All Film/Art Gallery movie posters and items are authenticated originals.
