Original David Lean Movie Posters
David Lean movie posters are among the most imposing and collectible items in British cinema — authentic original prints for the director of Lawrence of Arabia, The Bridge on the River Kwai, and Doctor Zhivago whose roadshow productions generated campaign materials on a scale equal to the ambitions of the films themselves. Shop our David Lean collection for original paper from his epic output.
Original roadshow one-sheets for Lawrence of Arabia (1962) — with Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif in the Columbia campaign — feature the reserved-seat booking information that identifies them as genuine first-release roadshow paper rather than general-release reprints; fine flat unfolded examples are genuinely scarce. The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) produced equally distinguished Columbia campaign materials including oversized three-sheets and 40×60s designed for major venue display. Doctor Zhivago (1965) with Omar Sharif and Julie Christie generated one of the most widely distributed MGM campaigns of the decade — insert cards, lobby card sets, and the standard one-sheet are all found regularly, but the large-format advance one-sheet for roadshow bookings survives in genuinely small numbers. British quad versions of all three roadshow productions offer authoritative horizontal counterparts to the US verticals and are often preferred by collectors of prestige British cinema.
