  • Joe Dante movie posters from his run of commercially exuberant genre pictures at Amblin and New World are among the most recognisable horror-comedy campaign materials of the 1980s — original prints for the director who made The Howling (1981) and Gremlins (1984) into some of the decade's most visually memorable theatrical campaigns. Shop our Joe Dante collection for original paper from his full output. The Gremlins (1984) one-sheet — the grinning Gizmo against a white ground, designed for Amblin's Warner release — became one of the iconic images of 1980s family horror; genuine first-release examples are distinguished from subsequent reissues by their printing characteristics, and fine flat unfolded copies are now scarce. The Howling (1981) produced an equally strong campaign: the European releases, particularly the British quad and the French grande, feature different and often more graphic artwork than the Avco Embassy US one-sheet. Lobby card sets for Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) document the sequel's self-aware cartoon excess and are highly collectible as complete eight-card runs. His earlier Piranha (1978) — produced under Roger Corman for New World — generated campaign materials that now read as defining examples of late-70s exploitation poster design, with Japanese B2s often featuring independently commissioned artwork.
