Vintage Movie Posters | Updates

  • Film/Art Gallery is excited to announce the release of the Ultimate Guide to Vintage Movie Posters. This amazing interactive resource is here to help collectors, new and seasoned, start, grow and preserve their very own vintage movie poster collection. We hope you enjoy.

  • We've got some great new acquisitions, including this CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT 3 Sheet. For more Christmas-themed posters, visit our Christmas collection. Some other highlights this month include the majestic "horse" style Japanese poster for Akira Kurosawa's RAN, the elusive original 1 Sheet for Barbara Loden's WANDA, McQueen on BULLITT Belgian and International 1 Sheet + THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR Quad and two cool wilding" posters for JOKER.

  • We've got some new releases from the Saul Bass Archive, including - for the first time - the sublime, iconic silkscreen for MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM, featuring Saul's original, unaltered design for the film (before United Artists added photos of Sinatra, Kim Novak and Eleanor Parker) But first, we want to say a huge thanks to everyone at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Margaret Herrick Library for last week's event "Words On Film: Inside the Saul Bass Collection". Several of Saul Bass' silkscreens were on display, along with treasures from the Academy's huge Saul Bass collection...

  • This month we've got 130+ new arrivals, and the list is led by one of the greatest, most enduring and iconic posters ever created: the U.S. 1 Sheet for Alfred Hitchcock's VERTIGO, designed by Saul Bass. We've also got 1 Sheets for GIANT, SOUND OF MUSIC, BEN HUR, THE GODFATHER, STAR WARS, JAWS, THE THING (1982), SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, and Jodorowsky's HOLY MOUNTAIN From Japan there's LE MANS STB, Ozu's GOOD MORNING, Melville's LE SAMOURAI and Ann-Margret in THE SWINGER. From Poland we've got BACK TO THE FUTURE, NEVERENDING STORY, 3 WOMEN and Kurosawa's RED BEARD. Germany is represented by Fassbinder, BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN and RASHOMON (both by Hans Hillmann) and Varda's CLEO FROM 5 TO 7. Plus superheroes, MUPPET STAR WARS and more - down below and here.

  • We've just finished our October update, with 104 new poster additions including lots of great HORROR titles: ROSEMARY'S BABY, SUSPIRIA, HALLOWEEN, REPULSION, FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM, THE HAUNTING, POLTERGEIST, THE SHINING, FRIGHT NIGHT, a YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN 3 Sheet and more. Other highlights include ALL ABOUT EVE 6 Sheet; 1 Sheets for LA DOLCE VITA, GREY GARDENS, 3RD MAN and PARIS IS BURNING; plus 007, Miyazaki, a stellar John Carpenter lineup and more...

  • We've got more than 125 new vintage movie poster acquisitions, including a now complete set of "wilding" posters for ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. In addition the RINGO poster, we've acquired the two photographic posters, one with Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate and the other with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. These styles aren't as unique as the faux Italian posters, but in person they really shine.  I also want to mention the passing of Peter Fonda. After biking and tripping for Roger Corman, Fonda produced and starred in the blockbuster, era-defining EASY RIDER. It's hard to believe he and Jane came from the same parents: as Pauline Kael noted in...

  • This month we've got one of our finest lineups ever, and we're excited about the release of Quentin Tarantino's ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. Our VALLEY OF THE DOLLS collection includes a new, rare 6 Sheet for Sharon Tate's biggest hit, click here (the tragic Tate is played by Margot Robbie in OUATIH). We've got 1 Sheets for STAR WARS (2nd Advance), 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, TOM JONES pre-Oscar style and MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH; Italian HAROLD AND MAUDE, PROFONDO ROSSO, SUSPIRIA and OCEAN'S 11, British Quads for RIO BRAVO and BACK TO THE FUTURE; East German MY FAIR LADY and the stunning Czech poster for Bresson's UNE FEMME DOUCE. From Poland: THE WAGES OF FEAR, SANJURO, 101 DALMATIANS, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, WEST SIDE STORY, ROSEMARY'S BABY. From Japan: 400...

  • We're getting a jump start on July! Vintage Movie Poster highlights this month include lots of John Carpenter, including this great English 1 Sheet for his 1982 film THE THING. Like much of Carpenter's work (HALLOWEEN, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK) this film's reputation and popularity have grown significantly over the past few years. We've got 1 Sheets for THUNDERBALL, GREY GARDENS, EASY RIDER, JAWS, THE WICKER MAN (English) and NASHVILLE (advance/foil style); Window Cards for 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and Elvis Presley in LOVING YOU, a rare Japanese STB (2 Panel) for the 1963 documentary MARILYN, plus HAPPY TOGETHER, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE, HONKY, A HIPPY VAMPIRE and more fun stuff, right here

  • We've got some major new releases from the Archive, including some posters that have rarely been offered - like this silkscreen for BONJOUR TRISTESSE. Though the original NSS 1 Sheet used this image in its entirety, this silkscreen is much more powerful. The white border and credits have been eliminated, leaving the iconic image and title alone. There's nothing to pull focus from the elegant, powerful design, and the rich silkscreened colors are stunning. Simply put: it's a work of art.

Inspired by this month's 56th New York Film Festival, we're featuring Saul's iconic design for the 2nd NYFF in 1964. A brilliantly conceived and beautifully executed piece of art, it gained widespread visibility when featured in the final season of the TV series "Mad Men", hanging in the McCann Erickson office of 'Peggy Olsen'. Its prominence in the finale - set in 1970...

  • Saul Bass Archive Vintage Posters September 2018 Friends, Movie Lovers & Saul Bass fans: We are thrilled to introduce our latest collection from the Saul Bass Archive: a group of posters created by Saul for various organizations, charities and causes. It’s an exciting lineup for several reasons. To start with, the posters span three decades, thus representing changes in society and in our shared visual vocabulary, while also highlighting the breadth and depth of Saul’s talent. There are the bold, very “Saul Bass” designs for SANE and FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, along with lyrical, nostalgia-tinged posters for the Girl Scouts and...

You can get more info by clicking here or on the poster image (for the 1985 George Romero film DAY OF THE DEAD)  And wherever you...

  • September 2017 Original Vintage Movie Posters Dear Friends and Movie Lovers The Scary Season is nearly upon us. For Horror fans it came early: a cruel summer that saw the deaths of two of the genre's master directors: George Romero and Tobe Hooper. Hooper's TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remains one of the most unrelentingly horrifying films ever made - despite the low budget and relative lack of gore (he said he was aiming for a PG rating!) And Romero... well, he practically invented the modern Zombie genre with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD in 1968, and later created what may be...

  • August 2017 Original Vintage Movie Posters Dear Friends & Movie Lovers Hello from Hollywood. Before we get to our latest poster acquisitions, a few words about the extraordinary Jeanne Moreau, who died last week in Paris at the age of 89. • June 2017 Original Vintage Movie Posters BOND AND BEYOND: THE SPY WE LOVED & A LEGEND RETURNS TO HOLLYWOOD, FOREVER. Dear Friends & Movie Lovers- Hello from Hollywood. We'd like to start this month's newsletter by acknowledging the passing of Sir Roger Moore, who brought such charm, sophistication, wit and self-deprecating good humor to the 007 series. He wasn't everyone's ultimate Bond, but he certainly had a great run - starting with the relatively edgy and somewhat blaxploitation-influenced LIVE AND LET DIE, then hitting his stride in the glorious THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and the insanely lavish, over-the-top in outer space MOONRAKER and reeling it in a...
