A farewell to Friedkin and our curated collection of New Acquisitions
Dear Friends and Movie Lovers:
Hello from Hollywood. We have great posters to get to, but first a pause to pay tribute to William Friedkin, seen here in a photo with EXORCIST stars Ellen Burstyn and Jason Miller. We're not sure when this photo was taken,
but it's a pretty safe bet that, judging by the smiles, it was probably early in that film's long and troubled production. Friedkin's film's were almost universally intense, and he wasn't intimidated by controversial subjects or punishing shoots. Of course the obits focused on the one-two punch of FRENCH CONNECTION and EXORCIST, but he did great work before those (THE BOYS IN THE BAND) and after (TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A).
