  • Why Man Creates

This vintage original movie poster is for Why Man Creates . This is the "Edifice" version.

Please also see our single image version poster for Why Man Creates here.

This wonderful, infinitely charming poster focuses solely on the sequence called "The Edifice" in Why Man Creates, which Saul Bass and Elaine called: "An animated history of the world man has built on ideas". Starting at the bottom with the dawn of "Early Man", the eye travels upward through humorous images that depict the passage of time and changes in human behavior and ways of thinking. The final image of "The Modern World" sits at top, and depicts Mankind engulfed in pollution, coughing and asking for "heeeelp."
