San Francisco concert featuring Sylvester and the Hot Band

NOT A FILM POSTER: Original 1972 poster for two evenings (Saturday July 8th & Sunday the 9th) of concerts held at the Resurrection Ballroom in San Francisco. The shows were headlined by the California rock band Stoneground and featured other acts such as Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks and Luis Gasca; however the poster (which was designed by artist Randy Tuten and his Flo-Eze Studios) is most notable for the fourth-billed act: the legendary, androgynous Disco superstar Sylvester. This early appearance (he was 24 at the time) found him performing with "the Hot Band", the group with which he would record two albums the following year. After those unsuccessful albums, the group disbanded and Sylvester went solo. Four years later (in 1977), he released his first solo album; a year after that he released the album "Step II", which featured the enduring disco anthem "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" and made him a star.
