  • Cult Of the Damned (Angel Angel Down We Go)

Rather insane AIP concoction, written and directed by Robert Thom (who had written "Wild In the Streets" for them) and featuring a wild cast: Jennifer Jones (her first film after a widely-publicized suicide attempt), folk singer Holly Near, Lou Rawls and Roddy McDowall. The drug-tinged story - about a charismatic rock star who sings tunes by Cynthia Weil & Barry Mann, insinuates himself into a rich family and seduces them, a la "Teorema" - wasn't a horror movie, but after the Sharon Tate murders, the title was changed from "Angel..." to "Cult of the Damned", and the advertising (including this poster) left little doubt as to  what angle AIP was using to market the film.
