Original Zugsmith, Albert Movie Posters
Albert Zugsmith movie posters from Touch of Evil (1958) and his work producing and directing exploitation melodramas represent some of the more eclectic collector targets in the Hollywood studio system's transition years. As producer, Zugsmith collaborated with Orson Welles on Touch of Evil (1958), one of the definitive noirs of Hollywood's sound period, and with Douglas Sirk on Written on the Wind (1956) and The Tarnished Angels (1957). Shop original theatrical materials from these landmark productions and beyond.
Zugsmith subsequently directed a series of exploitation films through the 1960s that leaned into the provocations of the emerging youth market. His willingness to work across the full range of commercial cinema—from prestigious studio productions to low-budget genre fare—made him one of the more versatile operators in mid-century Hollywood. His association with Welles and Sirk alone places him at the centre of essential film history.
Posters from Zugsmith's productions reflect his full range: the polished studio aesthetic of his Sirk and Welles collaborations alongside the bolder, more sensationalist designs of his exploitation work. Materials from Touch of Evil and the Sirk productions are particularly sought and seldom appear in fine condition, given that high-demand classic noir materials are rapidly disappearing from the primary market.
