  • Woody Allen movie posters are among the most graphically distinctive in American cinema — a house style so consistent and so recognizable that the typography alone communicated everything about the world being sold. Allen's filmography spans American comedy, romantic drama, and European-influenced art cinema, but the visual identity of his campaigns remained remarkably stable: the Windsor typeface, spare layouts, candid still photography of himself, Diane Keaton, or the lead actress of the particular production. The collaboration with Diane Keaton produced the most collected materials. Original one-sheets for Annie Hall (1977) — Allen and Keaton in their defining romantic comedy performance — and Manhattan (1979) with Gordon Willis's black-and-white Cinemascope cinematography are the two most requested items in this collection. Find original Allen one-sheets from this 1977–1985 peak period and you're working with some of the most graphically coherent campaign materials in American cinema history: the same design studio, the same typeface, the same philosophical seriousness applied to comedy advertising. The Mia Farrow period (1982–1992) continued the house style through Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989), and a string of films that represent Allen's most sustained critical period. The European campaigns — French grandes, Italian one-sheets, British quads — offer alternative visual readings: the Italian market in particular applied its own distinct illustration sensibility to Allen's essentially photographic American campaigns. Original one-sheets in fine flat unfolded condition are now increasingly difficult to source. Browse alongside our New York collection for the urban comedy and drama tradition Allen defined, and Drama for his later, more serious work. All Film/Art Gallery movie posters and items are authenticated originals.
