The Man with the Golden Gun, released in 1965 in the UK, is an espionage film and the ninth entry in the James Bond 007 series to feature Roger Moore as the infamous MI6 agent. The film marks Moore's second appearance as Bond.

Adapted from Ian Fleming's 1965's posthumously published novel, the film's screenplay was written by Richard Maibaum and Tom Mankiewicz. Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli produced under Eon Productions, and the movie was directed by Guy Hamilton.

In The Man with the Golden Gun, Bond's mission is to find the Solex Agitator, a dangerous and destructive device capable of exploiting solar energy, which is about to be sold to the highest bidder. Standing in his way is Francisco Scaramanga, a vicious and expensive assassin who charges $1,000,000 per hit. Will he stop Bond?

The film received mixed reviews as many considered it below expectations. Despite the critics, it was still profitable when compared with Live and Let Die (1973).

Aside from Moore, The Man with the Golden Gun starred Christopher Lee as Francisco Scaramanga, Britt Ekland as Mary Goodnight, and Bernard Lee as M.
