Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Jacques Tati vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic performances.

Jacques Tati (full name Jacques Tatischeff, 9 October 1907 – 5 November 1982) was a French filmmaker, actor, comic genius, and screenwriter. Tatischeff was of Russian, Dutch, and Italian ancestry. He appears to have been an indifferent student, yet excelled in the sports of tennis and horse riding. He left school in 1923 at the age of 16 to take up an apprenticeship in the family business, where he was trained as a picture framer by his grandfather.

Upon graduating from the military, he took on an apprenticeship in London where he was first introduced to the sport of rugby. When he returned to Paris, he joined the semi-professional rugby team Racing Club de France. After a short semi-professional rugby career, Tatischeff began a career as a music-hall entertainer in the 1930s. He had then changed his name to 'Tati' in order to accommodate theatre bills. The French magazine "Le Jour" described Jacques as "a clown of great talent".

Tati's first major feature is Jour de fête (The Big Day) in 1949. Tati's second film, Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot (Monsieur Hulot's Holiday), was released in 1953. Tati's next film, Mon Oncle (My Uncle) in 1958, was his first film to be released in color. The film quickly became an international success and won that year's Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, a Special Prize at Cannes, as well as the New York Film Critics Award
