American epic space-opera film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005) is written and directed by George Lucas starring Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Lee, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Frank Oz.

The film is set three years after the onset of the Clone Wars. It is the third chapter in the Skywalker saga and the final installment in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The Jedi are now leading a war against the Separatists through Obi-Wan Kenobi and set out to eliminate army leader, General Grievous. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker lead a mission to rescue Chancellor Palpatine who was kidnapped by Grievous. Anakin was having premonitions of his wife Padmé Amidala dying in childbirth upon giving birth to twins Luke Skywalker and future Prinecess Leia Organa. The premonition came true as Padme passes away just after the births from a broken heart.

Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse appeared as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru Lars respectively. Sound engineer Matthew Wood provides the voice of General Grievous, Temuera Morrison portrays Commander Cody; Bruce Spence portrays Tion Medon. Lucas reportedly applied the ""V technique", or shooting with two or more cameras at the same time using HD technology with Roger Barton as the editor.

The film earned an estimated $16.91 million in North America from premier late night screening alone and set American records.
