    Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Jim Sharman vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations. Australian stage director, producer, playwright, and film-writer James David Sharman, born on March 12, 1945, is known for the film adaptation The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), based on the 1973 theatrical hit The Rocky Horror Show, a musical by Richard O'Brien about a newly engaged couple who met scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter with a Frankenstein-style monster, produced by Lou Adler and Michael White. He worked for the loosely based sequel Shock Treatment (1981), co-written by Richard O'Brien, and directed third year students at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1985.  Sharman continued directing Australian premieres, including plays by Patrick White, The Season at Sarsaparilla, Big Toys, Netherwood, and A Cheery Soul which was credited with Nobel Laureate's career as a dramatist. He directed The Night, the Prowler and successfully worked and collaborated with production designer Brian Thomson. He was also the artistic director of the Adelaide Festival of Arts in 1982 and created Lighthouse, a theatre company by major Australian dramatists, including Louis Nowra, Stephen Sewell, and Patrick White, with actors Geoffrey Rush, Gillian Jones, John Wood, and Kerry Walker. Sharman has been working recently with Stephen Sewell's Three Furies which earned him a Helpmann Award for Best Direction of a Play. He then revived his landmark staging of Benjamin Britten's Death in Venice (2009). He directed a new production of Mozart's Così fan tutte for Opera Australia with Berlin-based Australian conductor Simon Hewett.
