Film director, producer, and writer Jerry Schafer was credited for his 1989 film Fists of Steel, about one man who had enough on violence, drugs, and terrorists story, starring Carlos Palomino, Marianne Marks, and Henry Silva. He produced the film The Low Price of Fame (1970), about a young teenage girl is jealous of her father's new wife, written by Lawrence Holben and features James Griffith, Karen Arthur, and Jimmy Cavaretta.
Schafer was announced to produce and direct S.R.O. for Hollywood International Pictures in Variety in June 1971, set to feature Rory Calhoun, Ruth Roman, Rosie Grier, Jim Mitchum, and Tom Bosley. Hollywood Production Pulse column issued the movie "The Low Price of Fame", starring Rory Calhoun, Gardner McKay, and Yvonne DeCarlo, although there was no evidence that the film was completed or released. In 1981, Schafer also created the documentary Female Mud Wrestling Championships. He wrote the club stage reality and fiction film Tonight for Sure (1962), directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starring Karl Schanzer, Don Kenney, and Marli Renfro. The story was about an ill-kempt desert miner Benjamin Jabowski, who entered the Herald Club to set and blow at midnight.
His other works includes the screenplay for the Francis Ford Coppola production Tonight For Sure.
