British director, producer, actor, singer, and writer Michael Sarne, born Michael Scheuer in August 6, 1940, was the director of the drama film Joanna (1968) and the comedy film Myra Breckinridge (1970), based on Gore Vidal's 1968 novel, featuring Raquel Welch with John Huston and Mae West. He also appeared in films, like A Place to Go (1965) by Basil Dearden with Bernard Lee and Rita Tushingham, Two Weeks in September (1967) directed by Serge Bourguignon and starring Brigitte Bardot and Jean Rochefort, and Justice and Moonlighting (1982) by Jerzy Skolimowski which stars Jeremy Irons.
Sarne is best known for his 1962 UK novelty chart topper Come Outside, produced by Charles Blackwell which features vocal interjections by Wendy Richard. He introduced the ITV Junior Criss Cross Quiz, produced by Granada Television. He had many TV appearances, including The Avengers, Man in a Suitcase, Jonathan Creek, The Bill and Minder as Billy Beesley and War, and Remembrance (1988). He later appeared in The Fourth Angel (2001), Eastern Promises (2007), Telstar: The Joe Meek Story (2008), and was the voice of Karla in the 2011 in the spy film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. In 2012, he played Father Mabeuf in the film of Les Misérables and was 'Publican No 5' in The World's End in 2013.
Sarne had a relationship with French animal activist, actress, and singer Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot. He had five children, two from Tanya Sarne and three with second wife Anne Musso, and reportedly had an affair with actress Geneviève in his film Joanna.
