  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Denis Sanders vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

American film director, producer, and screenwriter Denis Sanders (January 21, 1929 – December 10, 1987) directed the debut performances of actors Robert Redford and Thomas Roy Skerritt in the powerful anti-war knockout 1962 film War Hunt. Sanders won two Academy Awards for his masters' thesis student project A Time Out of War, a short war film starring Corey Allen and Barry Atwater, and in 1955, an Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Two-Reel) first prize at the Venice Film Festival, which he co-scripted with his brother filmmaker Terry Sanders.

His second award as Best Documentary was in 1970 for the short documentary on the history of Czechoslovakia, titled Czechoslovakia 1918-1968 (1969). He and his brother Terry wrote an adaptation of Norman Mailer's World War II novel, The Naked and the Dead; it is considered as one of the greatest English-language novels later adapted into film in 1958. His other directorial credits include the neglected drama Shock Treatment (1964), the concert documentaries Elvis: That's the Way It Is (1970), Soul to Soul (1971), and the gloriously sexy exploitation cult of the Bee Girls (1973). He also directed episodes of TV series Naked City (1958), The Defenders (1961), The Great Adventure (1963), and Mannix (1967).

He became a professor at San Diego State University and had three children: Peter and daughters Julie and Victoria, a literary agent and film producer. He died at the age of 58 from a heart attack in San Diego, California.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Denis Sanders posters includes a 1 Sheet (27x41) poster of Invasion of the Bee Girls. Denis Sanders poster collection also includes Insert (14x36) of the Elvis concert documentary.
