Italian film director and screenwriter Vittorio Sala (July 1, 1918– May 11, 1996) was born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy and was famous in directing A Woman Alone (1956), an Italian drama film starring Eleonora Rossi Drago, Luciana Angiolillo, and Ettore Manni, the French comedy Wild Cats on the Beach (1959), and Colossus and the Amazon Queen (1960), a comedy film which stars two American actors in the lead roles Rod Taylor and Ed Fury with a 98-minute running time.
He was responsible for the successful filming of I Don Giovanni della Costa Azzurra (1962) or Beach Casanova, a 1962 Italian film starring Curd Jürgens, Annette Stroyberg, and Martine Carol. In Berlin, Appointment for the Spies (1965) exposes and highlights an Italian Eurospy film, starring Dana Andrews and is also known and recognized as Bang You're Dead. It was retitled Spy in Your Eye for American International Pictures', where it was double billed with Secret Agent Fireball Le spie uccidono a Beirut), a 1965 international co-production spy film pertaining to the Eurospy genre.
Sala continued filming for Diamonds Are a Man's Best Friend (1966), a thriller-heist, starring Félix Marten, Liana Orfei, and Gastone Moschin, about an adventurer who steals a valuable diamond known from the museum. He died on May 11, 1996 at the age of 77 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.
