    Ukrainian-American television and film director Boris Sagal (October 18, 1923 – May 22, 1981) was credited for directing episodes of television series The Twilight Zone, an American anthology created by Rod Serling which ran for five seasons on CBS, American action drama T.H.E. Cat, aired during the 19661967, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, a series featuring dramas, thrillers, and mysteries, and made the pilot episode of the TV series Combat! (1962), starring American actor Vic Morrow.

    Sagal worked on Night Gallery and the mini series Columbo: Candidate for Crime, starring Craig Stevens as Peter Gunn with Lola Albright, created by Blake Edwards, which Segal directed. His masterpiece science fiction film The Omega Man is a 1971 American post-apocalyptic action film, starring Charlton Heston and written by John William Corrington and Joyce Corrington. He also directed an adaptation of Percy MacKaye's play The Scarecrow in1972, nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards for TV miniseries Poor Man, Rich Man and Masada. The film was produced by Walter Seltzer who worked with Heston again in the dystopian science film Soylent Green in 1973 and The Dream Makers (1975), an drama film starring James Franciscus, Diane Baker, and John Astin.

    He was the father of five children with first wife, Sara Zwilling. His second wife was Marge Champion from 1977 until his death, in a helicopter accident in Timberline Lodge in Oregon during production of the miniseries World War III and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
