    Italian film screenwriter and director Franco Rossi (April 19, 1919 - June 5, 2000) was known for having directed the six-hour-long Italian-German-British-Swiss TV mini-series Quo Vadis, a 1985 television miniseries with a runtime of about six hours, starring Klaus Maria Brandauer as Nero, Frederic Forrest as Petronius, and Cristina Raines as PoppaeaIt, produced by Elio Scardamaglia and Francesco, written by Ennio De Concini, based on the novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz.

    He made his first debut as director, working with the film Camicie rosse (1952) and made his first success on Il seduttore (1954), starring Alberto Sordian, an Italian comedy film which was adapted from the play by Diego Fabbri. Other notable films of his are The Woman in the Painting (1955), or Friends for Life, a comedy-drama film nominated for Best Film at the 10th British Academy Film Awards. He also did The Odissea Nuda (1961) and Three Nights of Love (1964), an omnibus comedy film with co-directors Renato Castellani and Luigi Comencini, starring Catherine Spaak, Enrico Maria Salerno, and Adolfo Celi. He worked for the film episodes of Le bambole (1965), with cast Virna Lisi, Nino Manfredi, Gina Lollobrigida, Elke Sommer, and Monica Vitti, Porgi l'altra guancia (1974) with Bud Spencer, and for the Two Missionaries (1974), starring the comedy team Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.

    Rosi was highly acclaimed in the direction of 32 feature films or TV films/TV mini-series, according to the Internet Movie Database. He died in the year 2000 in Rome, Italy.
