  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Jerry Ross vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

American lyricist and composer Jerry Ross born as Jerold Rosenberg (March 9, 1926 – November 11, 1955) has worked with Richard Adler in 1950 as a duo with publisher Frank Loesser for the musical theater The Pajama Game, based on the 1953 novel 7½ Cents by Richard Bissell, running for 1063 performances. Their next musical comedy Damn Yankees opened on Broadway, starring Gwen Verdon, and earned Tony Awards in 1955 and 1956 for Best Musical and Best Composer and Lyricist categories, plus the Donaldson Award. The film had a book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop, with music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, plus the song Rags to Riches was recorded by Tony Bennett, with a jazz novelty hit with Anita O'Day's recording of "No Soap, No Hope Blues".

Ross and Adler had a chance to work in Broadway with John Murray Anderson's Almanac. The revue opened in 1953 and ran for 229 performances. There were two songs from the show, Hernando's Hide Away and Hey There which topped the Hit Parade, followed with Steam Heat by Bob Fosse, Small Talk and Seven and a Half Cents.

Ross died at the young age of 29 in 1955 from lung disease complications. His short life was extremely productive, including his written solo work or collaboration of more than 250 songs, in addition to his theatre work. He was entered into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1982; his widow, Judy, and daughter Janie accepting on his behalf.
