Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Conrad Rooks vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

American director, producer, and writer Conrad Rooks (December 15, 1934 – December 27, 2011) is mostly well-known for his 1972 filmed adaptation of Hermann Hesse's ninth novel Siddhartha, starring Shashi Kapoor, based on 1922 novel of the spiritual journey of self-discovery of a man named Siddhartha. His father Russell Rooks was one of the founding Presidents of the famous phrase "Ding Dong Avon calling," making him an heir to the Avon Products cosmetics fortune.

At eighteen, Rooks exposed his life as a troubled substance abuser on alcohol and drugs. He even traveled to Europe to find the sleeping cure and was offered treatment by a medical doctor in Zurich, which he claimed successful and made his full recovery. He spent his life traveling and living abroad for many years in such places as India and Thailand.

Finally back, Rooks wrote, directed, and starred in his first semi-autobiographical film exploration Chappaqua (1967), based on Rooks’ experiences of the perils of drug addiction, drug withdrawal, and the author's journey to Europe to find the sleeping cure, with the cameo appearances by William S. Burroughs and Swami Satchidananda. The film won second prize at the Venice Film Festival, against directors François Truffaut and Roger Vadim, and got Conrad a Grand Jury prize award.

He was married to heiress Zina Rachevsky and had a son Alexander and a daughter Rhea. Later, he married Pamela Rooks and had son Ryan Rooks, before they divorced in 1985. Rooks died on December 2011 in Massachusetts.
