Italian screen writer and film director Brunello Rondi (26 November 1924 – 7 November 1989) was best known for his frequent script collaborations with Italian director and screenwriter Federico Fellini. He was a script-writer and a consultant. He began his career writing the script for the 1947 Italian melodrama film Last Love, directed by Luigi Chiarini and starring Clara Calamai, Andrea Checchi, and Carlo Ninchi, was served as the film's assistant director; the film was set during the Second World War under German troops.
Rondi became famous when he worked as an assistant director and writer, although uncredited, on The Flowers of St. Francis (1950) by Roberto Rossellini and for the Europa '51 (1952). He worked with Federico Fellini as an artistic director on La Strada (1954) and Nights of Cabiria (1957), starring Giulietta Masina, Amedeo Nazzari, and François Périer. His career rose to prominence for his noted prized collaborations on the film scripts of La Dolce Vita (1960), which he helped a lot on the character of Steiner, 8½ (1963), an Italian-French fantasy comedy-drama film, Juliet of the Spirits (1965), Orchestra Rehearsal (1978), and City of Women (1980), all co-written and directed by Fellini. He finally made his directorial debut with Violent Life in 1961, based on the novel by Pier Paolo Pasolini, and part of "Questi fantasmi: Cinema italiano ritrovato" at the 65th Venice International Film.
Rondi died of a heart attack on November, 1989 in Rome, Lazio, Italy. His brother Gian Luigi Rondi was also a famous film critic.
