    Roman Polanski is a Polish-French actor, writer, producer, and film director. His debut film Knife in the Water, starring Leon Niemczyk, Jolanta Umecka, and Zygmunt Malanowicz, was nominated for Best Foreign Language Films at the US Academy Awards.

    Throughout his profession, he earned 5 Oscar nominations and won Best Director for the film The Pianist in 2003 at the Academy Awards. He also earned 2 Golden Globe Awards, 2 BAFTAs, the Palme d'Or at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival in France, and also several Cesars.

    His films have received several awards: Knife in the Water earned 1 nomination at the Academy Awards and 1 nomination at BAFTA Awards in 1962; Repulsion received nominations at the BAFTA Awards in 1965; Cul-de-sac also got BAFTA Award nominations in 1966; Rosemary's Baby won 1 Academy Awards (including 2 nominations), 1 Golden Globe Awards (inclduing 4 nominatoins), and 1 at BAFTA. Macbeth also obtained 2 nominations at the BAFTA Awards. His film Chinatown received 11 nominations and 1 win at the Academy Awards, 11 nominations and 3 wins at BAFTA Awards, and 7 nominations and 4 wins at the Golden Globe Awards in 1974. The film Tess had 6 nominations and 3 wins at the Academy Awards, 3 nominations and 1 win at the BAFTA Awards, and 4 nominations and 2 wins at the Golden Globe Awards in 1979. The movie Pirates received 1 nomination at Academy Awards in 1986. The Pianist earned 7 nominations and 3 wins at the Academy Awards, 7 nominations and 2 wins at the BAFTA Awards, and 2 nominations at the Golden Globe Awards in 2002. His film Carnage also gather 2 nominations at Golden Globe Awards.

    Polanski received the Career Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1993. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at Stockholm Film Festival in 1999. He also earned the Lifetime Achievement Award at the European Film Awards in 2006.
