    Eric Rohmer was a French teacher, film critic, novelist, screenwriter, journalist, and film director. He earned international awards around 1969 when his movie My Night at Maud's was nominated at the Academy Awards. His film Claire's Knee won San Sebastian International Film Festival.

    Rohmer received several awards and nominations in some of his films: La Collectionneuse in 1967, earned Silver Bear - Jury Grand Prix and Youth Film Award at Berlin Film Festival; My Night at Maud's in 1969, won Prix Méliès, New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Screenplay, National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Screenplay and nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards; Claire's Knee 1970, received San Sebastián International Film Festival Golden Shell, National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Film, Louis Delluc Prize and Prix Méliès and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe Awards. The Marquise of O in 1976, won Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix and nominated for Best Director at the National Society of Film Critics Award; Perceval le Gallois in 1978, received Prix Méliès; Le Beau Mariage in 1982, was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at César Award; Pauline at the Beach in 1983, received 4 awards such as Berlin Film Festival Silver Bear for Best Director, Berlin Film Festival FIPRESCI Prize, Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Screenplay and Prix Méliès; Full Moon in Paris in 1984, received 3 nominations for Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay at Cesar Awards and won Prix Melies; The Green Ray in 1986, won Golden Lion and FIPRESCI Prize at Venice Film Festival; Boyfriends and Girlfriends in 1987, was nominated for Best Writing at Cesar Awards; A Tale of Winter in 1992, won FIPRESCI Prize at Berlin Film Festival; Autumn Tale in 1998, earned Venice Film Festival Golden Osella for Best Original Screenplay and National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Foreign Language Film; and The Lady and the Duke in 2001, was nominated for Best Director at European Film Award.

    In 2001, Rohmer earned the Career Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
