Original Vintage Movie Posters @ Film/Art Gallery

Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Rocky vintage movie posters, where we offer a wide range of artwork for the first entry in the ultimate boxing drama film series.

Rocky is a 1976 drama film directed by John G. Avildsen. It is written by Sylvester Stallone. It conveys the rags-to-riches American Dream story of Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), an uneducated but good-hearted debt collector for a credit shark in Philadelphia. Balboa is also a beginner boxer who gets a shot at the world heavyweight championship when the planned contender breaks his hand. Also starring in Rocky are; Talia Shire as Adrian, Burt Young as Adrian's brother Paulie, Burgess Meredith as Mickey Goldmill, Rocky's coach, and Carl Weathers as the champion, Apollo Creed.

What makes the movie astonishing is that it doesn't try to shock us with an original plot, with twists and complications; it wants to include us on a rudimentary, sometimes violent, level. It's about heroism and recognizing your potential, about taking your best shot and sticking by your girl. It sounds not only clichéd but corny -- and yet it's not because it really does work on those levels. It includes us emotionally, it makes us pledge ourselves: We find, maybe to our surprise after remaining detached during so many movies, that this time we care.

The film, made for only US$1.2 million, and shot moderately quick in 28 days, was a sleeper hit; it made over US$117.2 million, won three Oscars, counting Best Picture, and earned generally positive reviews which helped to launch Stallone's career. The film produced five sequels: Rocky II, III, IV, V, Rocky Balboa, and a spinoff of the series, Creed.

Film/Art Gallery's Rocky movie posters collection includes a poster of an advance "rematch" style for the first "Rocky" sequel. It also includes a Jan Antonin Pacak artwork for the first Czech release of 1976 Oscar-winner. It showcases a Rocky poster in white variant, printed in Australia for use in New Zealand. A blue variant is also available.

Film/Art Gallery movie posters are original prints and film poster collectibles. These are original movie posters. We do not carry any movie poster reproductions or reprints of any kind.
