  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Robert Mitchum vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic performances.

Robert Mitchum was an American director, author, poet, composer, singer, and actor. He was known for starring in several roles in classic film noirs, and he is considered a forerunner of the antiheroes widespread in films during the 1950s and 1960s. Robert Mitchum was born Robert Charles Durman Mitchum on August 6th, 1917, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His parents were Ann Harriet and James Thomas Mitchum. When he was two, his father died in a train accident; with this, he and his siblings were raised by his mother and his stepfather, who was a British army major, in Connecticut, New York, and Delaware. He began to get small roles in films and playing an extra. He was cast as Lt. Walker in Story of G.I. Joe in 1945. His career ascended quickly and became an icon of the 1940s film noir.

Some of Mitchum’s best performances are The Night of the Hunter, Out of the Past, El Dorado, and Cape Fear. Mitchum died on July 1, 1997, in Santa Barbara, California, because of complications of lung cancer and emphysema.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Robert Mitchum movie posters includes The Longest Day in British Quad (30x40), starring John Wayne, Sean Connery, and Henry Fonda. Our Robert Mitchum poster collection also includes The Two for the Seesaw in French Mini (16x23) starring Shirley MacLaine, artwork by Boris Grinsson.

Film/Art Gallery movie posters are original prints and film poster collectibles. These are original movie posters. We do not carry any movie poster reproductions or reprints of any kind.
