  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Dino Risi vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

Dino Risi was an Italian movie director. He is recognized as one of the masters of commedia all'italiana with Luigi Comencini, Ettore Scola, and Mario Monicelli. He started his career as an assistant director in cinema to well known cinema figures Mario Soldati and Alberto Lattuada. Afterwards, he started producing his own movies and was credited in offering early opportunities to acting stars, such as Vittorio Gassman and Sophia Loren.

In 1966, his film Treasure of San Gennaro, an Italian comedy film starring Claudine Auger, Nino Manfredi, Senta Berger, and Toto, was entered into the 5th Moscow International Film Festival and won Silver Prize.

His greatest hits films were Poor, But Handsome (Poveri ma belli) in 1957, followed by its two sequels, Belle ma povere in 1957 and Poveri milionari in 1959. He also directed A Difficult Life in 1961, later added to the 100 Italian Films to be Saved. The Easy Life was also one of the best examples of commedia all'Italiana film genre. Other films are Opiate'67 in 1963, 15 From Rome in 1963, and Scent of a Woman, nominated for Best Foreign Film and Best Writing, Screenplay Adapted from Other Material at the Academy Awards in 1976; it also won the Cesar Award for Best Foreign Film in 1976.

Risi's two films were shown in a retrospective section of Italia comedy at the 67th Venice International Film, such as II giovedi and Il Commissario Lo Gatto. He was also awarded with the Golden Lion - Honarary Award for his life-time career.
