Frank Ripploh was a German author, actor, and film director. He was exceptional in his semi-autobiographical film Taxi zum Klo in 1980, where he was the lead character, director, and the screenwriter. The film is a dark comedy of manners that investigated the public and private life of a Berlin school teacher. He also created the sequel Taxi nach Kairo, but it was not considered as successfully because it was not released outside of Germany in 1987.
He also took part in the creation of few other house films during the 1980s. He had a role in the Rainer Werner Fassbinder film Querelle in 1982, a West German-French English-language arthouse film adapted from the novel Querelle of the Brest by Jean Genet's in 1947.
Ripploh performed as Axel von Auersperg in a Television film titled Axel von Auersperg in 1974. He appeared also in a Television film titled Monolog eines Stars as Lehrer in 1975. In the same year, he also appeared as Die griechische Gott-Tunte in the film Die Betörung der blauen Matrosen. He also took the role as a gangster in the movie Kamikaze 1989, directed by Wolf Gremm, based on the novel by Per Wahloo, Murder on the Thirty-First Floor. He was also Stefan in the film Niko: aus der Grosse zu den Sternen in 1986.
