    American film and television director John Rich (July 6, 1925 – January 29, 2012) directed Colonel Humphrey Flack, Hogan's Heroes, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., Where's Raymond?, Mister Ed, I Married Joan, Gunsmoke, and Bonanza. He was highly credited for the success of The Dick Van Dyke Show and won an Emmy. He has won two Emmys, an N.A.A.C.P. Award, and two Golden Globes for All in the Family. Other shows he directed include The Jeffersons, Benson, The Brady Bunch Maude, Good Times, Barney Miller, Newhart, and Gilligan's Island.

    Rich feature film credits also include Wives and Lovers, Boeing Boeing, The New Interns, Roustabout and Easy Come, and Easy Go, starring the ever renowned Elvis Presley. He also worked on the NBC radio program "Wanted" in New York before he began his TV career in 1950 as a stage manager on NBC shows, like the Kraft Theatre (1947) and The Jack Carson Show (1954). He participated in the live telecast of the opening-day ceremonies in Disneyland in 1955 and worked on The Brady Bunch (1969) and reunited with Ann B. Davis. He formed in the 1980s the production company Henry Winkler/John Rich Productions, with Henry Winkler and produced MacGyver for Paramount Television, and became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

    He was married to Patricia Dodds, followed by Executive Vice Chancellor at UCLA Andrea L. Rich, whom he had two sons, Anthony and Robert Rich, and to Sylvia Lewis. He died in Los Angeles, California, on January 29, 2012.
