Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Karel Reisz vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

British filmmaker Karel Reisz (21 July 1926 – 25 November 2002) was born in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia and wrote film journals (Sight and Sound) and co-founded Sequence with Lindsay Anderson and Gavin Lambert in 1947.

Reisz founded the Free Cinema, first published in 1953, and made his first short film Momma Don't Allow in 1955 which was recognized in the first Free Cinema program co-written and co-directed with Tony Richardson. He worked as a producer for Every Day Except Christmas (1957), directed by Lindsay Anderson and Band Wagon (1958). Reisz also directed We Are the Lambeth Boys (1959) and produced I Want to Go to School (1959).

His first feature film was based on the novel by Alan Sillitoe, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (1960). The film won Grand Award for Best Feature Film, making Albert Finney a star. Reisz's fourth feature was Isadora (1968), about a biography of dancer Isadora Duncan that stars Vanessa Redgrave with a screenplay by Melvyn Bragg. His first film shot in America was The Gambler (1974) with James Caan and Who'll Stop the Rain (1978) with Nick Nolte and Tuesday Weld. He directed The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981) and Sweet Dreams (1985). His last feature was Everybody Wins (1990), with screenplay by Arthur Miller, and directed Moonlight by Harold Pinter with Jason Robards in 1995

Reisz had three sons with Julia Coppard, whom he later divorced and wed Betsy Blair in 1963 and remained married until his death in 2002, in London, due to a blood disorder.
