  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Carol Reed vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

Carol Reed was an English movie director, famous for his film Odd Man Out in 1947, The Fallen Idol in 1948, The Third Man in 1949, and Oliver! in 1968, in which he received the Academy Awards for Best Director, 6th Moscow International Film Festival for Special Award, and was nominated for BAFTA Award for Best Film and Best Director. His film Odd Man Out in 1947 was the first recipient of the BAFTA Awards for Best British Film and the film The Fallen Idol won the second BAFTA Award for Best British Film. The movie The Third Man was voted as the greatest British film of the 20th century by the British Film Institute.

Reed's directorial debut was Midshipman Easy in 1935, starring Hughie Green, Margaret Lockwood, and Harry Tate. His comedy film Laburnum Grove in 1936 stars Edmund Gwenn, Cedrick Hardwicke, and Victoria Hopper. His career started to grow with The Stars Look Down in 1940, starring Michael Redgrave.

During the WWII, his films were written by Sidney Gilliat and Frank Launder, with producer Edward Black. Their most known films are Night Train to Munich in 1940 starred Rex Harrison, Kipps in 1941, The Young Mr. Pitt in 1942, and The Way Ahead in 1944.

After the war, Reed created three well known films, starting with Odd Man Out in 1947, The Fallen Idol in 1948, starring Ralph Richardson, and The Third Man in 1949, starring Joseph Cotten.
