Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Satyajit Ray vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic contribution.

Satyajit Ray was an Indian film director, screenwriter, documentary filmmaker, author, illustrator, magazine editor, lyricist, calligrapher, and music composer. He was widely honored as one of the greatest filmmakers in the film history.

Ray produced 36 films, including documentaries, short films, and feature films. Some of Ray's great films are The Apu Trilogu in 1955-1959, The Music Room in 1958, The Big City in 1963, and Charulata in 1964.

Ray's directorial debut was Pather Panchali in 1955. The film won 11 international prizes at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival, including the inaugural Best Human Document Award. He received several major awards during his career, including 32 Indian Nation Film Awards, a Golden Bear, a Golden Lion, 2 Silver Bears, an Academy Honary Award in 1992, and many more awards at the international film festivals and ceremonies.

While Ray was working on the film Ghare Baire, he suffered a heart attack, limiting his productivity, but, with the help of his son, it was completed in 1984. Despite the difficult chapter due to his illness, the film received some praise. The critic Vincent Canby gave the film a maximum rating and applauded the three lead actors.

After Ray's recovery, he directed the 1990 film Shakha Proshakha.

Ray's last film was Agantuk in 1991. It won awards for Best Feature Films and Best Directing at the 1992 Indian National Film Awards. The Special Jury Award was given to Mamata Shankar for portraying Anila. It was also named the Best Film, and Ray received Best Scenario Writer at the Ritwik Ghatak Awards.
