Samuel Raimi is an American actor, producer, screenwriter, and film director. He is famous for making the cult horror Evil Dead series and directing the Spider-Man trilogy from 2002 to 2007. He also directed A Simple Plan in 1998, the superhero movie Darkman in 1990, the supernatural thriller movie The Gift in 2000, the horror movie Drag Me to Hell in 2009, and the Disney fantasy film Oz the Great and Powerful in 2013.
He has produced many successful TV series, including the spin-off Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. He established the production company Renaissance Pictures in 1979. In 2008, he produced a TV series called Legend of the Seeker, based on the best selling fantasy series The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. His upcoming film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be release on March 25, 2022.
Raimi won the Prize of the International Critics Jury at the Sitges Film Festival in 1981, he also won the Best Director Award in 1990 at the Sitges Film Festival. He was also awarded the Time-Machine Honorary Award in 1992 at the Sitges Film Festival. At the Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film, he won the Golden Raen Award in 1993. In the same year, he received the Fantasporto Critics Award. In 1999, Raimi acquired the Cognac Festival du Film Policier Special Jury Prize. In 2004, he was awarded the Saturn Award for Best Director Awards, and in the same year, he received the Empire Award for Best Director Award. After a decade, he acquired the Inkpot Award.
