Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Jose Quintero vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

Born in Panama City, theatre director and producer José Benjamín Quintero (October 1924 – February 1999) was best known for his interpretative works of Eugene O'Neill. His childhood was a disaster, having a domineering father. He was educated in the United States at Los Angeles City College, the University of Southern California, and the Goodman School of Drama where he decided on a career in theatre.

In 1951, he co-founded the Circle in the Square Theatre with Theodore Mann. Quintero directed The Iceman Cometh in 1956, with Jason Robards. His reputation of O'Neill's dramas won him Tony Awards for Best Play and Best Actor. In 1963, he directed Strange Interlude, he directed Ingrid Bergman in More Stately Mansions (1967), and he produced A Moon for the Misbegotten at the Academy Playhouse in 1973 which won him the Tony award for Best Direction in 1974.

Quintero directed famous writers Truman Capote, Thornton Wilder, Jean Genet, Jean Cocteau, and Brendan Behan. He also directed plays by Tennessee Williams, including Summer and Smoke (1952) and The Seven Descents of Myrtle (1968). In 1961, he directed Vivien Leigh and Warren Beatty in a Williams adaptation of The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone which gained Lotte Lenya an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Quintero battled alcoholism with the help of his life partner, Nicholas Tsacrios, and was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1987 which led to his death in Manhattan by 1999. He was honored by having The José Quintero Theatre on West 42nd Street in Manhattan.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Jose Quintero movie posters include a French 1 Panel (47x63) poster of The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone, with poster artwork by Jean Mascii for the adaptation of Tennessee William's novel. Also included in the colleciton is a 1 Sheet (27x41) poster.
