  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Purple Noon (Plein Soleil) vintage movie posters. Film/Art Gallery offers a wide range of movie posters and artwork for the cinema's ultimate crime thriller films.

Purple Noon is also known as Full Sun, Blazing Sun, Lust for Evil, and Talented Mr. Ripley. It is a crime thriller film directed by René Clément in 1960 generally based on the 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith.

The film stars Alain Delon in his first major film, along with Marie LaforĂȘt (as Marge) and Maurice Ronet (as Philippe Greenleaf); Romy Schneider appears briefly in an uncredited role as Freddie Miles' companion. And Billy Kearns (an expatriate American actor well-liked in France) plays Greenleaf's friend Freddy Miles, and the film, principally in French, contains brief sequences in Italian.
Clément and Paul Gégauff won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Foreign Film Screenplay, in 1962. With fans including film director Martin Scorsese, Purple Noon (Plein Soleil) enjoys a loyal cult following even today.

In 1968, Screenwriter Paul GĂ©gauff wrote a variation on the same story when he worked on Les Biches for Claude Chabrol. And in 1999, Highsmith’s source novel was adapted again under the original title, The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Purple Noon (Plein Soleil) movie posters includes a poster with artwork is by Jean Mascii for the French 1 Panel (47x63). Our Purple Noon (Plein Soleil) poster collection also includes a Czech mini (11x16) poster.
