Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Lee Marvin vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic performances.

American film and television actor Lee Marvin (February 19th, 1924 – August 29th, 1987) known for his distinctive voice and premature white hair initially appeared in supporting roles and hardboiled characters. He is best remembered for his lead roles as “tough guy” as Charlie Strom in The Killers (1964) and Major John Reisman in The Dirty Dozen, and Walker in Point Blank (both films from 1967).

Lee Marvin won the Academy Award for Best Actor, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and the Silver Bear for Best Actor in Cat Ballou (1965), a comedy Western in which he portrayed both gunfighter Kid Shelleen and criminal Tim Strawn.

The award-winning actor served with the 4th Marine Division, where was hit in the foot by a sniper and discharged with the rank of private first class. After the war, Lee Marvin was asked to replace an actor who had fallen ill during rehearsals and appeared on stage in a production of Uniform of Flesh, an adaptation of Billy Budd (1949). He began appearing on television shows like The Big Story and Treasury Men in Action, and finally made it to Broadway in 1951. His film debut was in You're in the Navy Now (1951), directed by Henry Hathaway.

Marvin received much acclaim for his portrayal as villains in The Big Heat (1953) and The Wild One (1953). He continued making varied quality films until his sudden death from a heart attack in August 1987 at the age of 63, when he was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Lee Marvin movie posters include a foil poster for mega-musical Paint Your Wagon with artwork by Peter Max. It also includes a Lee Marvin poster signed by the actor: "To David Best Wishes Lee Marvin".
