  • Marcello Mastroianni movie posters are among the most elegant and desirable items in Italian cinema art collecting — authentic original prints from the career of the actor who was, for a decade and a half, simply the face of world cinema. Mastroianni defined the romantic lead in Italian art cinema and romantic comedy, bringing an ironic intelligence to roles that a less nuanced actor would have played straight. His collaborations with Federico Fellini produced the most iconic Italian poster art of the 1960s. Original 2-fogli for La Dolce Vita (1960) and 8½ (1963) feature Mastroianni in images that have become shorthand for a specific kind of mid-century European cool. These are available to buy in both Italian format and the international variants produced for French, Spanish, and American theatrical release. Divorce Italian Style (1961) — his Oscar-nominated comic performance, playing a Sicilian aristocrat plotting his wife's murder — generated one of the most graphically cheerful campaigns in Italian cinema advertising, a one-sheet that sells the film's dark premise as light comedy with considerable skill. Marriage Italian Style (1964) with Sophia Loren, and A Special Day (1977) with Loren and Ettore Scola, represent different phases of his career but equally strong collecting interest. Fine flat 2-fogli and Italian originals are genuinely scarce and difficult to source. Browse alongside our Federico Fellini page for the central collaboration, and the broader Italian cinema context in our Bernardo Bertolucci collection. All Film/Art Gallery movie posters and items are authenticated originals.
