  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Mervyn LeRoy vintage movie posters from his critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic contributions.

Mervyn LeRoy (October 15, 1900 – September 13, 1987) was an American film producer, director, author, and actor. He worked on The Ten Commandments in 1923 with director Cecil B. DeMille, and directed 1927's No Place to Go and worked for Warner Bros. LeRoy launched into stardom with Edward G. Robinson, the Oscar-nominated critique of Five Star Final (1931) as well as with the classic gangster film Little Caesar (1931). The filmmaker's piece I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang was nominated for an Academy Award for Outstanding Production. The multi-talented LeRoy was also known for Anthony Adverse (1936), based on the Hervey Allen bestseller, which also starred Fredric March and Olivia de Havilland.

Leroy’s most serious drama They Won’t Forget (1937), was based on a novel by Ward Greene, was followed up by Fools for Scandal (1938), which starred Carole Lombard and Fernand Gravet. He was the head of MGM production in 1938, and responsible for discovering Clark Gable and Loretta Young. His big hit films include Blossoms in the Dust (1941), Random Harvest (1942), Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. Arguably, the filmmaker's biggest hit is Quo Vadis, with resulted in a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Motion Picture in 1951. He also notably directed musicals Lovely to Look At, Latin Lovers, Million Dollar Mermaid, and Rose Marie.

In 1946, Leroy received an honorary Oscar for The House I Live In, along with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 and the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1976. He was married three times, including wife Kathryn "Kitty" Priest Rand, who remained with him until his death in 1987.
