Georges Lautner was a French film director and screenwriter. He was born in Nice, France on January 24, 1926. Lautner was the son of an actress named Renée Saint-Cyr. Lautner was known primarily for his comedies, created in collaboration with Michel Audiard who was also a screen writer.

In 1962, Georges Lautner directed a French crime drama titled The Seventh Juror, starring Maurice Biraud, Francis Blanche, Danièle Delorme, and Bernard Biller. The Seventh Juror is about a man who murders a young woman while the woman's boyfriend is wrongly accused of the murder and the actual killer is chosen to serve in the jury, but does not want an innocent man to be sentenced. It was based on the Francis Didelot's novel The Seventh Juror.

In 1963, Georges Lautner directed a French-Italian-German comedy crime film, inspired by the book of Albert Simonin, Grisbi or not Grisbi. The film was popular with the public but was not popular with critics upon its first release.
