  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Laurie Anderson vintage movie posters from her critically acclaimed catalog of timeless cinematic creations.

Laurie Anderson is an American avant-garde artist, musician, composer, and film director. She was trained in violin and sculpting. Her name was Laura Phillips Anderson, also known as Laurie Anderson. Laurie Anderson was born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, on June 5, 1947, the daughter of Mary Louise and Arthur Anderson. Laurie Anderson graduated in 1969 from Barnard College with B.A. magna cum laude.

In the 1970s, Anderson pursued a variety of performance art projects in New York, particularly focusing on language, visual imagery, and technology. When her single "O Superman" reached number two on the UK singles chart in 1981, she became more widely known outside the art world. Laura Phillips Anderson also directed and starred in the 1986 concert film Home of the Brave.

She was a pioneer in electronic music and invented devices that she has used in her performance art shows and recordings. She created a tape-bow violin that uses recorded magnetic tape on the bow instead of horsehair and a magnetic tape head in the bridge in 1977. She collaborated with Interval Research to develop an instrument which she called a "talking stick", a long controller that looks like a baton that can access and also can replicate sounds.

In 1992, Anderson met singer and also a song writer Lou Reed and was married to him from 2008 until his death in 2013. Anderson won the Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance on February 10, 2019, at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles.

Film/Art Gallery’s collection of original Laurie Anderson movie posters includes 1 Sheet (27x41) posters of Home of the Brave, the concert film written, directed by, and starring Laurie Anderson. The collection also includes other Laurie Anderson posters.
